The Why

Dive into the reasoning we have for doing what we do

Some Context

Why This Matters

Georgetown University recently released a report that by 2031, 72% of jobs will require more than a high school diploma. At Teach4Speech, we aim to bridge these gaps by fostering a love for learning early in students' educational journeys, and inspiring them to pursue high aspirations.

The majority of Teach4Speech students consist of Hispanic/Latino (43%) and Indian (23%), while White (14%), Black (9%), and a small proportion of Asian students make up the rest of the racial distribution that we serve.

We asked students what they want to be when they grow up in our surveys before and after the Teach4Speech program. Student's responses varied from doctor, to police officer, to teacher, and many more. The following graph takes a look at the typical education needed to succeed in these types of careers. Girls chose careers that require a college degree at a rate of about 70%, while boys only chose careers that require a degree 36% of the time.
